El gobierno iraquí ha anunciado que expulsará a los 3500 miembros del grupo Muyahedin-e-jalk (Combatientes del Pueblo) que aún se encuentran en la base militar de Asheraf. Se trata de una prganización considerada a terrorist group by the United States, European Union and Iran. The pressure Tehran to Baghdad appears to have been successful and therefore this group that enjoyed support in Iraq during the years of Saddam Hussein no longer be a threat to Iranian security.
One of the main objectives of this group is to overthrow the current Iranian government including through violence which has taken him to carry out several terrorist attacks over the past thirty years.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran , the political arm of the Mujahedin-e-Jalk has condemned the Iraqi decision by criticizing one of the main drivers, the Iraqi National Security Adviser Mowaffak al-Rubaie.
